2009/10/30, 1. 67012 "A Shropshire Lad" had recently collected the second Wrexham & Shropshire set of refurbished Mk.3 coaches, together with 82301, from Stoke Marcroft and taken them via Wrexham to Wembley Depot. From there the train went to Aylesbury depot for final adjustments before entering service. The loco and stock are seen at Aylesbury depot at 12:39 on Friday 30th October 2009. Photo taken with permission and under supervision, though I was not able to go onto the ballasted area for a head-on shot! The photos are a "Stereo Pair", and thus when looked at correctly, form a 3D image. In order to view this image, sit well back from your screen, look at the join between the two photos and then attempt to go "cross eyed", focusing your eyes just beyond the end of your nose as it were. It takes some practice, but eventually the two images will merge in the middle and produce the 3D image in the centre (you will still see images to the left and right of the 3D image). Once you have got it, your eyes will "lock-on" and you can look around inside the image. Enjoy, but don't strain your eyes! Unfortunately, the technique used for producing this image cannot be used for moving trains! There is a "normal" version of this shot in the Wrexham collection.

W&S DVT 82305 stands at Stafford station at the head of 5Z01, the 06:23 test train from Crewe to Chester, Wrexham, Shrewsbury, Oxley, Stafford and return to Crewe, the purpose of the train being to test and run-in the newly refurbished Mk. 3 coaches. I was invited by W&S to travel on board and the pathing stop at Stafford enabled me to get out and photograph the exterior of the train. 10:45, Thursday 10th September 2009.
