1968/09/xx. One of the Hunslet 0-6-0ST "Austerity" engines which has been rebuilt with the Gas Producer system is at work on the line from North Gawber colliery (seen in the background is the engine shed and various colliery buildings) to the exchange sidings with BR near Darton on the line from Barnsley to Wakefield in West Yorkshire. The engine is named "NCB Monckton No.1" (Hunslet 3788/1953) and is in green livery. Note the crossing-keeper by the rudimentary home-made signal at the ungated level-crossing. September 1968.
