BR Southern Region. 1958/05/02. From the Geoff Plumb Collection of original slides. Unrebuilt Bulleid "Merchant Navy" class 4-6-2 No. 35003 "Royal Mail" has the road and is raring to go with an up West of England express at Templecombe, bound for Waterloo. Friday 2nd May 1958. BR Southern Region. 1964/05/09. From the Geoff Plumb Collection of original slides. SR unrebuilt Bulleid "West Country" class 4-6-2 No. 34038 "Lynton" had just hauled the RCTS "East Midlander" railtour from Didcot via the DN&S line and is still carrying the headboard as it is serviced at Eastleigh MPD. BR Southern Region. From the Geoff Plumb Collection of original slides. Unrebuilt Bulleid "West Country" class 4-6-2 No. 34092 "City of Wells" simmers between duties, possibly at Margate, in this undated scene. The loco still has the old type BR crest on the original style high sided tender, whereas the diesel shunter beyond has the new style crest, introduced from 1956. This loco is Class 04 No. D2278, which was withdrawn in April 1970 and scrapped by Pounds Ltd of Fratton at Stratford TMD in January 1971. "City of Wells" has survived into preservation, though out of use at the moment. Photographer unknown. Chiltern & Cherwell Valley Lines. 2009/11/23, 1. Chiltern & Cherwell Valley Lines. 2009/11/23, 2. DBS 60009 worked 6M48, the Willesden to Calvert spoil train, on Monday 23rd November 2009, Class 60s being somewhat rare in these parts nowadays! On the first morning of some winter frost, the VSOE worked from Victoria to Bicester North, for either Christmas shopping at Bicester Village, or lunch at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons. Here the train is approaching Princes Risborough at 10:36, where it stopped for two Chiltern trains to go round it. 67017 "Arrow" is heading the train while 67006 "Royal Sovereign" is on the rear. Royal-liveried 67006 "Royal Sovereign" is bringing up the rear of the VSOE with 67007 "Arrow" leading as the train slows to stop at Princes Risborough station to allow a couple of Chiltern trains to pass it. Germany. 1971/09/17, 1. DR 2-8-2 No. 41 1228-0 is nice and clean and picking up a glint from the lowering sun as it waits in the platform at Halberstadt at 16:20 with an eastbound local passenger train, including a three coach double-deck set. Wrexham & Shropshire. 2009/11/30, 1. Wrexham & Shropshire in unfamiliar territory! 67015 "David J. Lloyd" is at the head of 5D01, an ECS move from Willesden TMD to Doncaster (not sure of exact destination, or purpose of the move!) with four ex-Virgin Mk.3 coaches, presumably from the DB Regio UK hire fleet. The train was due to leave Willesden at 10:30, but in the event departed at around 12:15. Here it is heading north on the down fast at Langford on the ECML, having just overtaken a 365 unit, fortunately!
