This was on the rather miserable Sunday afternoon.

Here, 1450 is seen near Little Marlow en route from Marlow to Bourne End, during the celebrations to mark 100 years of the branch over the weekend of 14th & 15th July 1973.

1977/06/12. LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No. 1306 "Mayflower" on one of its rare main line outings on Sunday 12th June 1977. It was working from Carnforth to Leeds and York and is here approaching Thackley Tunnel with a train of Mk.1 coaches and several vintage carriages. This was during the period of the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations, hence the flags carried on the engine.

The "King" worked the return train as far as Banbury. I wonder how long the pristine white roofs of the coaches lasted? Saturday 19th May 1990.

The train is just on the move but the engine is slipping furiously (sparks can be seen coming off the wheels amidst the steam from the sanders!). About three flashguns have gone off and "frozen" the image, but is is far from perfect. It took almost 30 minutes from opening the regulator until the last coach cleared the platform!

This was one of the engine's final runs before undergoing another overhaul. 10:25, Sunday 6th June 1999. There was supposed to be a Class 47 diesel on the rear as "insurance", but it had failed at King's Cross, thus delaying the train, which was about 40 minutes late at this point. Time had been regained by the stop for water at Doncaster!
